My crazy life

I can't believe I haven't posted in awhile and so much happened in the month of April starting with the annual Glass and Bead Expo at the South Point the first weekend of April. The show is always such a good one and I you can find me working in the Art Clay World booth. It was so nice to see everyone again and to meet new people. This years was the first year I actually took time out to take a class with Melissa Muir on how to use and create great jewelry with a hydraulic press....yes of course I bought one and they shipped it for the show. I love my new purple press!
The  following weekend was the Dirty Girl 5K mud run in Arizona. What a blast!! this run is for woman only- no men allowed! We had a team of 6, or name is 5 Chicks and a Peep, the run is a obstacle course where we had to climb over, tunnel under and slide down so many bouncy things that all lead you right into a big mud pit. For such a great cause and it was a weekend of pure joy and laughter with a great group of friends. Thanks guys for dragging me kicking and screaming into this crazy event I can't wait till we do it all again next year.
The following week I was working with our local Fire Station serving up pancakes at our annual open house, lots of great things to see and do and many local companies on hand to answer questions, was such a great turn out with so many of the local community getting involved.
Then there were many shows at the Smith Center that I took in and did I mention that same week I had the huge garage sale (thanks everyone who helped so much especially my dear sister/friend Sylvia who flew out from Tucson just to help).
That was all in April but in May things didn't show down one bit I had company from California for a few days and my sister from Portland came out for a week so she and I to do a trunk show at our local Knit shop. Also went to see several shows courtesy of House Seats....it's been crazy but looks like June will be getting back to normal....stay tuned.

Turned on

OMG I bought a lathe a week ago and nothing else is getting done around here. Love this wood turning stuff. This week I've made a lot of mistakes and have done a lot of practicing and finally have 3 projects to show for it. The eagle pen is all inlay and the other two projects are seam rippers.

Rich Little In Las Vegas

Last night I was out with friends to see Rich Little at the Tropicana...remember Rich Little from the 70's-80's? Seems like he worked with everyone one who was anyone in "The day". I had a few good friends who had said they wanted to see his show so I told them I would pick up my House Seats tickets and we would all go. What a nice surprise, his show was fabulous! He is so talented and still so funny. If you haven't seen him and you live in Vegas try to take in this show you won't be disappointed.

Cabaret at The Smith Center

After a seriously fun morning my head still reeling of tools, colors and all the possibilities of wood turning how could I expect anything more than that? I spent the evening at the Smith Center Cabaret theater. Invited by some very good friends out for dinner and an amazing night of music with Clint Holmes and Domenick Allen. Only my second time seeing a Clint Holmes show and each show I know I am becoming a fan ...one more show and I think it classifies me as a groupie. Joined on stage was his very good friend Domenick Allen and wow! the two together are so great together. Each month Clint Holmes plays and brand new show with a theme, last time I saw him he played all James Taylor music and last night it was all music about different cities, states and countries ...all songs we know and love. The balance between the two musicians was magic, besides singing Domenick also played the flute and Sax. Loved that show and can't wait to see Clint in April. If you haven't seen a show in that little Cabaret theater you are really missing out. Thank you so much once again Betty and Steve my day was full of happiness and music...Love those kind of days.

Seriously Fun Day

What a fun day today! was able to take a semi-private wood turning class today from an excellent teacher...thanks Ken and Gisele. We started with a chunk of wood and turned it into a beautiful pen, mine is on the left and Gisele's is on the right. The entire process was amazing, I can't believe I made such a beautiful thing.
